When you do end up going to the RMV you should go anywhere but Watertown or Downtown Crossing. Both places are a total nightmare.

I was able to email with someone successfully I believe - may be a bit easier?

try your state rep or senator's office. they can usually get a direct answer from the rmv fairly quickly.

send them an email, it'll probably be quicker. i have never been able to reach anyone by phone. at least with the email you can copy in the error message

It took me forever to make the appointment online but I was able to do it. Try first thing in the morning, you may have more luck than if you try to do it in the afternoon. I scored one a month away, but at a location I wanted, and it actually went swimmingly (I was in and out in 10 minutes). Never managed to figure out the phone (unlike 2 years ago), and my e-mail just produced a response of 'new slots are added daily, keep trying' basically.

AAA can take care of a lot of this crap in a much more efficient manner. I never go to DMV or RMV ever.

Because it’s their job! Constituent services, and their legislative aides do the legwork. They like to help!

Edit: former legislative aide here. Your reps are here to serve you and they like to help. Honest

If you have Triple A then try their office, otherwise showing up in person to the RMV will have a real person make you an appointment on the spot. We've done it three times in the past six weeks.

Because it takes a lot less time to get a legislative aide on the phone than it does to get an rmv rep. OP seemed frustrated to waste time not getting through to someone at the rmv so I suggested a faster way to make that happen. The whole job of constituent services staff is to help connect people with state agencies and not enough people know about how helpful that is!

I just scream. Help me! until my neighbors call the cops.

Idk if this works for the RMV but whenever I get a robot I just say “speak to customer service” a few times and it usually forces the bit to connect me to a human and skip all the bullshit

Yep. I needed to do so about a month ago in RI. Find the colllections number. The PERSON who answered was incredibly sweet and incredibly helpful.

I'm in the middle of out of state transfer from RI and I'd say update your browser and use computer rather than phone if you're able and try at 7 am when they add appointments

FWIW.. I hear viewing the on line schedule right after midnight is the best time to get availability and having success in booking an appt. Yes, its inconvenient, but it works. Good luck!!
