The request to reduce consumption was voluntary. It’s something called being a member of a community, putting the thermostat at 80 one day a year so no one goes without.

Why is it bad that CA pays their hard earned money for a huge amount of energy from hydroelectric power located in sparcely populated areas just out of state?

You are a man arguing for the apocalypse using pure bad faith.

What a blatant straw man. Because I point out the article claiming they are energy efficient is misleading Im arguing for the apocalypse? What a joke.

If California actually wants to be “efficient” they need to further develop their electrical grid so that they can actually be self sustaining. Then maybe they can turn their noses up at everyone else and claim to be the most “energy efficient state.”

Arguing for increasing usage of fossil fuels is arguing for the apocalypse. It really is that simple.

At what point did I ever argue for an increase in fossil fuel use?

You come here trashing Massachusetts for high energy prices and posting outdated and misleading articles suggesting that California has brownouts regularly (they don't, that's Texas), while ignoring the consistently poorer performance of lower cost fossil-fuel heavy red states. It's pretty clear from that what your agenda is. If I'm wrong, please clarify what it is you want to accomplish by tarring the reputations of two states doing the most to prevent the apocalypse.

You should go back and reread what I’ve said, because I think you’re misunderstanding. At no point did I ever bring up any other state. The only time I mentioned Massachusetts (which is where I am from!) was in the first comment where I said I BELIEVE the statement that it is one of the most energy efficient states.

I did not post misleading articles, I provided multiple credited sources from both sides of the political spectrum (not that it should even matter) and I referenced California’s own government statistics for their energy output and consumption.

I never once brought up anything about “lower cost fossil-fuels” I stated that California is not efficient because they cannot support their own infrastructure with their current power grid without importing from other states. The onus of how they decide to remedy that, whether it’s increasing the amount of renewable energy they generate or otherwise is up to them.

You’re literally making things up that I didn’t say to argue with.
