Does anyone here have experience with plumbing codes in Massachusetts for dishwashers?

I bought a dishwasher from Costco.com and they sent out a plumber to install it for us. Plumber said code required a "water hammer arrestor", which was an air chamber to reduce the water hammer effect when a water valve closes, and it was $140 to install it. With the dishwasher already delivered and old one removed, I felt I had no choice but to pay. Is this device actually required by code for a dishwasher? I did a google search and couldn't find a definitive answer for Boston. Just wanted to make sure I wasn't completely lied to.

Yes. Any quick closing solenoid valve has to have one. Dishwasher/washing machine

They have been looking for them on inspections Call the town and ask the inspector that would be the easiest way to find out.

Water hammers are required by code law in Massachusetts when a dishwasher is being installed.

When hire A Plummer they have to install by code.. When do it yourself as homeowner you don t all ways need to. I just installed mine way it was ,I use same water and electrical lines that were there. A relative hired A Plummer wanted him put on A wood toilet seat. He said he can t by law. Because wood carries or holds bacteria or?? said she can as home owner but he not allowed to by law ?

Since when does Costco send out plumbers to install dishwashers? All the technicians need to do is it hook up the machines and GTFO.

MA coding is ridiculous and meant to make you pay more in the name of safety. None of it exists in most states.

So ya you gotta pay it if you want a dishwasher

Plumber likely just trying to upcharge you. No such code in Boston. No bueno 👎 . If it’s a replacement, I strongly recommend DIY
