I'm currently in NY visiting family, but I injured my foot. I thought the pain would go away throughout the past couple days, however it worsened and I can't put any weight on that one foot.

My issue of getting it checked out at urgent care is that I have Masshealth as my insurance and l'm not completely sure if my visit will get covered since it's out of state.

Was wondering if anyone had any experience with this or any information regarding it as their customer service line is closed until Monday.

Thank you!

Unless you're willing to go to the ER (which is lousy idea for reasons ranging from covid and flu and severely overtaxed ers and wait times all the way to the more esoteric waste of resources) i'm pretty sure you'll be asked for cash up front in the urgent care. Unless you're in absolute agony and cannot bear the pain, i'd RICE that sucker and make plans to get home.

You need to get your foot checked out. Your situation is the definition of an emergency - a medical condition requiring immediate attention. You should notify your PCP with 24 hours of the visit and followup with them

Many Urgent Care centers will bill as if they were an ER, especially to out of network patients. I would also suggest going to a Urgent Care center that is affiliated with a hospital if possible - they tend to be better staff ed and equipped than as stand alone center

Sounds broken if you can’t put any weight on it… go to ER. You need XR.
