MetroWest is the king.

There are actually good resources for this.

Here's an interactive map showing income by zip code. Purple is the highest. It is no contest among the areas you listed - MetroWest is by far the most widespread wealth in the state.

Here's a ranking showing the best places to live in MA in terms of towns (so, not including cities). Metrowest has a huge cluster of A+ rated towns. https://www.niche.com/places-to-live/search/best-places-to-live/s/massachusetts/?type=town&map=true

Anecdotally, I would say MetroWest. Just considering towns like Weston and Dover are among the wealthiest in the country. Then you still have Wellesley, Concord, Wayland, Carlisle, Natick, Newton, Sudbury; I could keep going. There are example of extreme wealth in both the south and north shore too (I'd argue north shore is prob #2), but MA as a whole is just one of the wealthiest states in the country.

Judgmental maps doesn’t label the Wellesley-to-Bedford corridor as “leafy, liberal, and loaded” for nothing. Haha

MetroWest has the highest “floor” — I.e., even a little ranch house costs a shitload in some of those towns

I think technically metrowest has the higher amount of cities/towns ranked as most expensive but the north shore has huge ticket $$$ houses being oceanfront.
