Had a company do the works in terms of insulation through MassSave. They did blown in insulation in the walls by cutting holes inside and out to get it in. Had to run some pipes for heat pumps the other day and when opening up some walls, there was absolutely so insulation. What can I do to get it rectified???

Call the company.

A laser thermometer may be useful in finding stud bays with colder spots (for exterior walls with blown insulation) - especially if your home has fireblocks in the framing.

I had the blown in insulation done. There are sometimes cavity's in the walls that they can't fill for some reason, the framing or pipes, openings at the bottom stuff like that.

When I had it done they had to do a report afterwards, they used the thermal camera to review the insulation, it had to cover a certain percentage of the house, then that had to put a report on the wall next to the electric panel that it had been certified.

I had them do attic insulation and someone from MassSave came out a couple weeks later and checked on the work. Did this happen with you? I'd imagine that it would be hard to check every cavity, but it sounds like they missed a lot.

No one from MassSave came out to verify.

I would reach out to MassSave. It would probably be easiest to reach out to the person that came to your house. MassSave is paying full price to the vendor so the vendor has no excuses to not do the job properly

Generally there are minimum requirements for the number of places that need to be inspected after the work is performed, but it's not 100%. Usually it's more like 50% of places where work has been done will be inspected to ensure the work conforms to applicable laws and regulations.

Ditto to this. The mass save inspector took issue with a few seals and empty cavities the insulation company did. The mass save person had the insulation company come back and bring it to standard

Sounds like it’s time for a cavity search

Best answer! You sir, have done Reddit a huge service by assisting the OP in navigating the real world and using a telephone to discuss the issue directly with the other party involved.

Who was the contractor? We are in the process of setting up the insulation appt, so would be curious to know which company this was. Thanks!

u/AnteaterEastern2811 I had a similar issue after my insulation work was done. I called MassSave, and they sent an inspector to review the work. The inspector has asked the company to come back and redo the missing spots. Some spots may not be filled due to the inability to reach them. So call MassSave and ask them to inspect; they will find a new company to fix the left spots.
