You can learn a lot about people through art history. Might not be the most profitable, but hey you learned something that could change your outlook on life.

Of course, but clearly you haven't learned that despite money running the world, there are people who derive a meaningful life pursuing areas that interest them regardless of the monetary gain.

I said it as a joke because I am an engineer but since we are going there, one’s pleasure is not the end all. There’s a reason certain jobs make more than other. With some exceptions of course, because the world isn’t perfect nor fair, money comes from providing utility to society— in other words providing happiness to society. Fortunately, I enjoy engineering and I get to help provide drinkable water to millions of people at the same time.

This is downplaying what someone with an Art History degree can do with it. The arts are extremely important to our society. If all we have is water/food/medicine, then we’re no different than a monkey in a zoo.
