Im not in the loop on the show but i feel like verbal bullying and physical assault are on different levels. May only be me but if someones shit talking im either shooting back or walking away

That's how bullying works. You get bullied, no one does anything. You punch back everyone gets mad at you.

The shit they did was more than picking on her verbally.

If I remember correctly it started with verbally bullying her with focus on her dead father which is super messed up and then deceived her to publicly humiliate her.

While this is of course still not physical and her reaction is over the top I don't believe you have to wait for your bullies to start beating you up until you are allowed to fight back.

Imho verbal and physical bullying are on the same level. Insult me regularly and you'll be hit in the face at some point, especially if I never did shit to you beforehand

regardless of how you "feel", hitting someone in the face with a object is called assault and is illegal even if said person was verbally bullying you
