I guess it's because some people (including me) can't see the difference between 60 and higher fps, and 60 fps is already smooth.

Anything higher than 60 fps looks too smooth and fast. Feels like a cheap game whenever I don't set a lock.
60 fps is more cinematographic, which is what I enjoy. 30 fps is too little, whereas anything beyond 60 feels uncomfortable.
