Contrary to popular belief, the light bulb wasn’t actually Edison’s invention. Light bulbs had already been invented before he was even born; what he did was buy the patent and improve the design so that light bulbs could be brought to the masses. The incandescent light bulb would be revolutionary, but only if Edison could solve one giant problem — bringing electricity to the homes of America. No matter how revolutionary his design improvements to the light bulbs were, no one can use a light bulb if there is no way to plug it in.

You did it batter and I thank you for that.

I hate Edison and the glorification he gets because of all the animals he killed to show his wonderful DC electronics that were also inefficient compared to Tesla's AC.

It is fire burning inside with no oxygen, resulting in an enslaved fire!

I mean, we didn't have gravity until Newton invented it.

Edison didn't invent the bulb, he took pre-existing designs and improved them.

The first light bulb was invented by Humphrey Davey in 1806, while Edisons invention of the carbon filament bulb came out in 1879

Its not who did it first, it's who does it better. Clearly this Humphrey guy wasn't very cash money if no one knows who he is.

Obligatory "Um, actually 🤓"

Edison didn't invent the light bulb, he just made it practical. Additionally, there's no actual fire inside light bulbs. Fire is a chemical reaction that consumes oxygen + fuel and turns it into carbondioxide + some waste product like ash or charcoal. The reason light bulbs last longer than oil lanterns is because no fuel is being burnt.

To put it very simply. When certain things get heated up enough or have electricity put through them, they glow. A light bulb is literally just a substance like that inside a vacuum chamber with electricity running through it sometimes. The whole point of the vacuum is to prevent fire while also keeping the heat from spreading to other parts of the light bulb. Additionally, air inside the light bulb would expand when heated, causing it to explode, so the vacuum is also to prevent the glass from exploding due to pressure.

Ain’t no fire happening in there.

Wouldn’t a candle be enslaved fire? Also wouldn’t it also make more sense to say that a lightbulb is enslaved light/brightness?
