PG-13 was pretty much created for Temple of Doom, Spielberg knew an R rating would kill sales and lobbied to add the 13. And just to add to your list of PG movies that are definitely not for kids; Jaws.

One interesting example of a PG movie in Australia was Galipoli, an anti war film. This movie has a Lower classification than most marvel movie yet has so much death and blood and is a really really sad and disturbing movie. What shocks me was that the ‘M’ rating, Australia’s equivalent to PG-13, had existed for a decade before the movie came out.

Idk if the movie is hard to find bc it’s Australian, but goddamnit it’s brilliant. If you found all quiet on the western front to be brilliant, you will enjoy (or really be deeply disturbed and saddened by) Galipoli

Apparently Spaceballs is PG, and I think they dropped an F-bomb in it at some point
