Just because its a crime it doesn’t mean it’ll be enforced. Look at piracy.

This meme is referring to the proposed Restriction Act here in the good ol' U.S. of A. Link to explanation: https://www.reddit.com/r/BikiniBottomTwitter/comments/125blhr/it_really_isnt/je3lbil?utm_medium=android_app&utm_source=share&context=3

ProfMonkey07 t1_jeex30c wrote
Read the act, it only applies to people using s VPN to access a restricted service in the name of committing some other crime basically, the wording is vague enough that it could apply to anyone using TikTok through a vpn but that would be a lot of work to prosecute something so little, it isn't meant for individuals
Luutamo t1_jef12mw wrote
But... using vpn is not a crime.

Yes, but they use the China like censorship law to stop the China oriented app that uses spyware. Idk which is worse at this point :/

It's going to be pretty soon. 20 years imprisonment is the minimum punishment

How would they know you're using a VPN?
-__-zero-__- t1_jeg476q wrote
That's what I'm saying. How do you track and / or inforce the no VPN thing? Our government isn't really known for being "tech savvy." I don't think they'll be able to truly inforce it imo. Plus, stuff like this gets challenged and revoked afterward due to constructional rights conflict with said act
