This is a sign of ADHD. This usually happens when you figure out gameplay loop and you suddenly stop playing because game will not provide any surprise element for you.

This year I basically rushed through all the AC games (playing only the story and some DLCs) until I yesterday finished Origins. But to finish that one I took some breaks from that game and I don't feel like going into Odysee next (not bc of any bad reviews or so, I pretty much enjoyed all the games so far), and rather play a bit of Cities Skylines next. I guess it's bc AC all the time got too repetitive, and I needed a change again

For me too. But i figured out that's because after hundred games or more I see the same pattern every new game. Only few games can keep me play for long. You're not doing wrong. The games are same and shitty.

Release yourself from guilty!

Funily enough i have those feelings but only when playing newer games. I've finished so many linear single players where there were little to no surprise elements but for some reason the games that look overcomplicated but have a simple gameplay besides a hollow open world and tons of repetitive sidequests get boring so fucking fast. I've finished borderlands 3 about 3 times already and wondering if i should give it a fourth shot. If the gameplay whacks, element of surprise as you said is the only thing that would keep you playing.

I swear, after the abomination of king's bounty 2 i've realized that all the gameplay mechanics i loved would be forever forgoten while i hoped just to see the same game with a bit better graphics and new classes/troops/items (depending on the type of game)

If I'm close to finishing like I was with Witcher 3 I'll just force myself to finish it. But a shorter game like SOMA I don't mind dropping

For me it's Speedrun through it. Feel guilty that you only played for 12h and not made any optional quests and such

i dont feel guilty, but when i do get the feel to finish the game i feel irritated i didnt finish it in the first place, because now i have to start at square 1 to "get in to the game" again.

How can you get bored from playing a game? I started playing Skyrim this may (warrior class) and kept playing every weekend (job and family/friends on working days, gaming on weekend) and accumulated 300 hours last night and completed all quests plus cleared all locations. It's now I feel empty because I have nothing more to do except explore the beautiful valleys and mountains. I think I will start a new game and play as a thief now xD

I play WoW and never got this feeling. WoW is the biggest crack hit from a game ever and it’ll never stop. Surprised not more people play it to be honest

I know the feeling. Or just feel depressed every time you put it on because you know what you need to do, but don’t have the feeling for it, so you shut it down.

Try to Limit IT a Bit. Treat yourself with the Game For a few hours a day but Always do Something inbetween. Like 3 hours Game and 3 hours different stuff. And If you are Not working Then do smth Like 3 hr Game, 5hr different, 3 hr Game.
