Yo. Look at the plug, then at the port. The plug will have a white bit, and the port will too. They have to be on different sides, otherwise it won't go in.

I've plugged in a usb 2 times a day for 5 years (phone charger into car then back into the plug at night ) I have never once got it right first try
Edit: You know what it's worse than that because I try it and it don't work so I flip it and it still don't work then I look at it and somehow I had it right the first time
