FTFY.
Although payed exists (the reason why autocorrection didn't help you), it is only correct in:
-
Nautical context, when it means to paint a surface, or to cover with something like tar or resin in order to make it waterproof or corrosion-resistant. The deck is yet to be payed.
-
Payed out when letting strings, cables or ropes out, by slacking them. The rope is payed out! You can pull now.
Unfortunately, I was unable to find nautical or rope-related words in your comment.

Either that, or there should be a limit on campaign spending.

The entire campaign process needs limits. There's no reason it should take hundreds of millions to get a name on a ballot. Nor is there a reason that an elected official needs to spend their entire term campaigning their bid for next term

I would rather there be no campaign funds at all. It should be a patriotic requirement that people educate themselves on the candidates and their positions and values. That said, a nonpartisan nonprofit could present that information in a public forum for all to consume objectively for a tiny fraction of the cost of what is spent on mudslinging and stupid bullshit ads that don’t tell voters anything except that “the other guy is bad”.

I will change your mind.
Presidential candidates should be forced to use only taxpayer donations for their campaign. These are donations given on tax forms (Example: "Do you want to donate $1.00 to the presidential campaign).

I would rather see them waste their money than waste the public’s money. That little box on taxes saying donate to the presidential election. This doesn’t effect your return, so it’s payed tax money paying for this. So millions of dollars to elect idiots instead of taking care of the country.
