I have a faint memory of this being about protecting the bees and some weird law that wouldn't work otherwise.

Yeah, the law pretty much just listed the types of animals they could list as endangered, and insects weren't on it... And instead of changing that law, they decided to label bees as fish.

In the movies aliens always land in America. In reality they are watching America at the movies. This is the plot of a comedy.

Bees are endangered in cali but there aren't any laws protecting them or any getting passed so they are classified as fish under the endangered species law since it doesn't have a section for insects.

That's really interesting and a clever way to abuse a broken system. Thanks for clarifying.

It’s because otherwise big agriculture will kill every bee and all other wild animals on the planet. All these soulless vampires care about is money, money, money.

Sadly they still will. A lot of those big companies budget for fines which is next level fucked up. At least it should help slow them down or in some cases they will find another, cheaper option.

It was the only way to protect the bees due to some stupid laws previously put in place, they found a loophole so they could save them
