You didn’t, you succeeded so much that your descendants will have a better life than you did, and you’re able to see that happening during your lifetime.

You didn't fail pops, you did great for your time, you did everything you can since you were 13 and you made a stable and a healthy family.

Maybe you can go talk to your grandson about the issue and maybe he has some ideas

Well if everyone stops giving him money eventually he might muster up the willpower to get out and earn some on his own?

you got exploited since you were a kid, you perpetruate the idea that you should be exploited to be useful to society, you helped mold our world to your comfort up to the point of being on the brink of total ecological collapse. Dunno pops, maybe your grandson is right to be depressed

Hope and pray he'll make a change. If that's where he is in life, that was his choice, and you shouldn't feel responsible.

That's just life, you didn't fail, it's just the world changing and it's entirely subjective wether the way it changes is good or bad

You failed at realising, that "I want my (grand-) kids to have a better life than I did" actually worked out.

I know somebody who got kicked out like that and it made the situation much worse

The guy got addicted on some crazy shit then died under the fence

I don’t even know how he used to get money for that shit because he still didn’t work even after he got kicked out

Sad, but that's just how life works. He would've just leeched off his folks or siblings if they didn't kicked him out. This way he didn't drag his family down with him.

Nah, Reddit would rather a leech continue to suck your blood, instead of, you know, removing it.
