It's only at some gas stations. I tend to avoid those. But, you can usually press all the buttons and one of them will mute it.

Good. I haaaate those screens. Bad enough I'm out in the cold watching my money getting sucked into my gas tank, I really don't care to hear anything from Cheddar News.

I keep a sheet of mute stickers in my car for that exact purpose. One pump at a time.
