I used to install cash register systems for grocery stores. The reason this is often done is because prepackaged foods can be paid for with EBT (food stamps), while unpackaged foods cannot. These rules can change depending on the type of store (grocery store vs gas station).

Maybe yes, maybe no. Its recyclable, so it shouldnt be an issue. Now whether those facilities exist is different
