I think you’re misunderstanding the meaning - the steel was forged between June 21 and July 22…

Yeah, stainless steel contains hexavalent chromium. From Wikipedia:

> Workers in many occupations are exposed to hexavalent chromium. Problematic exposure is known to occur among workers who handle chromate-containing products and those who grind and/ or weld stainless steel.[6] Workers who are exposed to hexavalent chromium are at increased risk of developing lung cancer, asthma, or damage to the nasal epithelia and skin.[2]

Didn't know about that, and I think that's mildly interesting. I thought most stainless alloys were pretty innocuous. Anyways, a DoAll saw will be doing the cutting for me today.

Didn't know what type of chromium is being used, but chromium is the main alloy indegrient for making stainless steel. Add some Nickel in it, and you get stainless steel perfectly made for welding, and it is no longer ferro-magnetic.

I wonder if this applies to chainsaw blade making.

Maybe it's worth wearing a mask either way

I don't work in our chroming department but I hope they do wear masks.

I heard leaving California is also cancerous. So, just never go there and you’re good.

What about all the stainless steel drink ware?

Probably a different alloy like 1810, not 304.

Njon32 OP t1_jdw623e wrote

"304 stainless steel is used for a variety of household and industrial applications such as food handling and processing equipment, screws,[4] machinery parts, utensils, and exhaust manifolds. 304 stainless steel is also used in the architectural field for exterior accents such as water and fire features. It is also a common coil material for vaporizers."

Huh.

Edit: Thought it was cali cause of their “1/100k (i think) chance to cause cancer” law.

Ok is just handling it problematic, or is the particles generated when cutting it or something?

1

Njon32 OP t1_jdw53zq wrote

I'm guessing it's mostly the latter... In which case I should be fine, as the saw uses that milky coolant when cutting.
