This might be bergamot rather than sugar. A lot of producers will include them in their tea bags, though not in the shape of llamas.

They press the flowers (along with citrus fruit and the like) to produce oils, which can then be condensed and pressed into pellet or llama shapes.

I’ll take your word for it considering you drank the tea, but for what it’s worth, what I was describing also melts into oils and incorporates into the water. It’s just a neat way to provide a little flavor boost.
