It could have been in the cement or something cause where I found it was where a gas station was being built. There is gunk on the blade so it’s hard to open and can’t be locked

Funny enough, I'm looking for a new knife since the one I bought from Gerber never really held a good sharpness and eventually got chipped a couple times.

Would you recommend these knives or do you have any other suggestions?

there are so many, too many good quality pocket knives these days. i see you value toughness and edge retention. what do you want to use it for? that can help determine what steel and design suits you best. bear in mind that if you pry things with a knife, or cut things harder than it (like hit rocks while cutting against the ground), most knives will likely chip

if you don't want to spend more than ~$50 on a knife, go with a civivi, or a ka bar dozier, or a cheaper spyderco like the tenacious. i'm not a fan but people like the ontario rat, and those are very inexpensive - probably will only slightly outperform the gerber though. imo the best knives for the money you can get are opinels, so if you don't care about ~tactical~ bs, hard to go wrong with one. if you want to spend over that there are infinite good options. benchmade are wildly overpriced. i mean they all are, but benchmade is esp bad. spyderco is a little more reasonable, and are generally just better knives.

Seconded for Ontario rat, better quality control than Gerber generally. Kershaw and SOG also make some good budget options

Maximum makes more work knifes then off grid style, mossy oak is pretty okay but their metal is hard to sharpen, x timer I only had one good knife from and sadly the knife is discontinued. Personally I go for a cheap one first to see if they are a good brand to get more from

It can't be the same one you carry.

Obviously you traveled back in time to warn yourself about something but something stopped you and made you drop your knife.

Why do you carry a knife?

LoL it's like the original tool, tons of folks carry a knife. I hate extra stuff in my pockets but keep a knife or multi tool in my daily bag.

Generally around a group of working men it will work to just ask 'who's got a knife?' when the need arises, and one is produced - better than pawing at something which should be cut away.

Good point. I just carry one when I'm fishing.
