This is about 9 grams short. How did you tell the scales the tare weight of the cylinder?

I tared the scale with an empty one (or maybe not totally empty to your point).

That'd account for it. Interested to hear what the difference between the empty cylinders is. It's normally stamped on the side.

Emptying one of these to a pure vacuum or even close is going to have God, Boltzmann and the FBI knocking at your door demanding an explanation. And Boltzmann has been dead for 116 years.

There is absolutely no way a soda stream bottle weighs only 9 grams. Probably at least 35-50g.

The full bottle weighs approx 6.6 lb or 3kg or 3000g. Just the gas weighs around 400g.

Did you tare the scale with an empty canister first?

AwDuck t1_iuhouge wrote

Likely, since they usually come filled with roughly 400g of CO2 from the factory.

OP probably tared the empty cylinder. There's no way an empty soda stream bottle weighs less than a pound, much less one filled with CO2 - they hold about 14 oz of CO2, or roughly 400g.

Deduce the e from your deduce then adduce a t to get deduct then consider using subtract instead and then give them the benefit of the doubt and assume they tared it.

I didn't realize the Hario scale had a timer built in. Nice!

I sometimes buy a few of these at a time and have noticed that they have very inconsistent weights when measured against each other. It’s so annoying! How much is actually supposed to be in these damn things?

Science and math! Or a scale with a tare button and an empty cannister.

Wrong, because your including the weight of the container.

I love that everyone came here to tell me I'm wrong, and you're over here defending me with logic.

Good job including that in the post. Look at all the people that assumed you didnt tare the scale 1st and were all assholes because you left out some info? Get fucked bro.

Sorry you feel tricked by a tare button, no need to take it out on me.
