I’m wondering if a bird (probably the one you linked) got into the house and the owners left. The home ended up not getting rented out for quite some time and the poor birdy didn’t make it ):

Also pretty likely it ran into a window, which isn’t any more fortunate but less drawn out at least.

I was thinking that too! It’s pretty common for birds when they get trapped to fly towards the light.
