You’re trippin. ROYGBIV ALWAYS

Larssmaller OP t1_j1qkoge wrote

I tried, but some colors were too saturated and they popped out to much for my taste, I took a picture before, used the eyedropper tool and sorted the colors with a color spectrum then sorted them by their nearest "neighbors"

ApolloWaveBeats t1_j1r5y6b wrote

I appreciate the Sheldon approach but always roygbiv. If not .... they come for you.........

Why is that hard blue beside green/grey/light blues, it deserves to be near the purples and indigos.

71

Larssmaller OP t1_j1qkx2m wrote

True, I'll do that!

HauntedMagnetar t1_j1qllem wrote

Ahaha the arrangement is your prerogative; it’s your wardrobe. I just had to put that thought out into the universe :p

6

Larssmaller OP t1_j1qmsis wrote

Sure, but I'm open to improvement so I'll try if it charmes my eyes :)

4

LucidZane t1_j1oq0ca wrote

This would be more satisfying if it were ROYGBIV

Why do people just not call it vibgyor? You can spell it out this way

GangstaQueefs t1_j1okv9n wrote

Would this work for different shades of black? That's the only color I wear.

TheChlorineNinja t1_j1p1ssz wrote

Half of the sweaters are black and half of them are slightly darker black

epi_introvert t1_j1pz248 wrote

Black, lighter black, and grey for summer. That's my whole wardrobe.

5

scoff-law t1_j1qt4r4 wrote

I do this as well. I do ROYGBIV and then white to black. I think the white to black looks better than the colors in my closet tbh.

I feel uncomfortable putting outdoor shoes in my wardrobe with clean clothes. Anyone else?

21

9detat t1_j1ptyj4 wrote

First thing I noticed, too. I live in Japan, shoes stay in the “genkan” or entrance area and never come further into the house.

5

manayakasha t1_j1q0xl5 wrote

What if you have too many shoes to keep the all at the entrance?

2

9detat t1_j1q26n1 wrote

There are special closets to store the shoes but that can be an issue. My sons play soccer so they have various sets of soccer shoes that get nasty - these we store in our garage.

3

eenirk t1_j1q44sk wrote

Common in many Asian countries to keep shoes at the door in shoe racks or some apartments have dedicated closets for shoes.

1

VoilaVoilaWashington t1_j1qmf50 wrote

...is it not common elsewhere? Where else does one keep shoes?

Maybe if you have a huge selection you pick with your outfit, but most of us keep our shoes in the entrance, no?

2

Larssmaller OP t1_j1ql6ts wrote

Did that only because the area underneath the clothes looked so empty on the pic, I returned them to my shoe shelf

2

Red_n_Gold_Tears t1_j1qlj2v wrote

Oh, nothin really. I just like antiques like that. My mom used to have an old foot pedal singer and collected antiques like that so ive always had an interest in that kinda stuff. =)

This ones also a pedal machine, it used to be connected to a table, love this kind of interior design :)

I do the same thing...that's "normal", right?

4

Pipperoni32314 t1_j1ovf8l wrote

I’ve always thought it was normal. I also sort by type of shirt within each color. That’s normal too, isn’t it?

2

Shaggysnack t1_j1pzh5j wrote

Don’t most people sort their clothes by color? Anything hung up in my closet is sorted and has been for years.

Sorting makes clothing items easy to find because you’ll know where the item is and it also makes matching items easier when deciding what to wear.

When I was in elementary school my class was taken to a play. I only have vague memories of it but there was a song that stuck with me to this day. I am 44 years old now and I have sorted my clothes by the lyrics of this song for the past 25-30 years. This is an excerpt of the song and the only words I can remember.

“Red, yellow, blue, and green are the colors to be seen. Around the rainbow we will go. The rainbow’s colors we will know.”

From left to right I put whites, then grays, then the song, then blacks.

Anyone else ever heard of that song or know where it’s from?
