Use premium. Your engine will love it

I use Unleaded 88 when it's available, never causes any issues or reduces my MPG.

They're all unleaded. In America we put corn in our gasoline and have different blends of it (the two on the left) in addition to our three common levels of octane (87, 89/91, 93). Others can be found but none that are leaded with exception for off-road vehicles and airplanes only.

Someone working at the sheetz messed up the prices during a price change.

Yes it will. A higher octane will not do any damage for a standard tuned vehicle and it may well also contain higher levels of detergent additives which will help clean the intake system.

Supply and Demand must be a new concept to OP.

The differences in detergent is negligible. As long as your shopping at a top tier rated gas station then a bottle of standalone detergent every 100,000 miles is going to do more than the difference in using regular vs premium.

Obviously this is a bit of a unique situation due to the pricing. But it’s basically never worth it to use premium/mid tier over regular unless your car is tuned for it.

To be honest, I’m not familiar with that gas station. I’m only sure about the sheetz thing because the one by my house has this exact same set up, and there are decals on the dispensers indicating there’s more ethanol in their 88. There should be decals on the dispenser you’re using indicating if one grade of gas has more ethanol or not.

Where is your source? It’s you? A bottle of fuel injection cleaner every now and then is cheaper and more effective than the little tiny bit of detergent I’m getting in the premium fuel. I can buy a bottle of injector cleaner for $5 every fill up if I wanted too. Are you really trying to tell me that there is more detergent in the premium fuel than the actual bottle of injector cleaner?

maybe you live in a poor area and they have a surplus of the luxury gas

Not even 3 mpg less, more like .5 mpg less. Well worth it when Sheetz has it for sometimes 40cents cheaper than e87. Hell, my car still says I get like 34-36 mpg on average per fill-up, same as when I used e87

It’s interesting to see all the incorrect comments that this is a mistake. Sheetz has been playing games with fuel prices all year, this is not unusual nor novel. They’ve been running clearance prices on E85 and E15(88) all year and recently lowered the cost of premium fuels at all their stations here in PA. Just in time for us to get slapped in the face with an increase in gas taxes Sunday.

Hard to find real 93 in the Midwest. So that’s pretty good
