What do you mean? Toys r us is still open and doing well. I got my nephew a gift from there last week.

In the US they almost completely shut down. They've made a comeback in the last few years with Macy's but are a shadow of what they used to be.
A quick Google search tells me they filed for bankruptcy in 2017 and closed their last two stand alone retail stores in 2021.
