The Bicycle advertisement is pretty fascinating! “People of any age..or sex” can purchase one!

For those interested, this is one of 4 pieces I found that are part of the Chicago Dramatic Journal. I wasn’t able to find an issue date but there were advertisements for plays from the 1893/1894 season. My house, which is located in Dayton, Ohio was built in 1896 so I’m thinking that the builders must have been fans of the arts.

I would love to go to the bicycle riding school -- why didn't they provide an email in their ad?

Sweet find! My parents bought a huge 1860 Victorian house in the late 1960s. The cool stuff we found turned me into a collector. My best find in that house was an 1876 Winchester .40 lever action rifle, hidden in the attic.

That’s wild! It’s definitely one of the things that makes living in an old home so interesting. While I haven’t found anything aside from this shredded newspaper, I did recently uncover our fire place. It’s was neat to find some circa 1920’s wallpaper underneath. Ended up leaving a blob of it on there as its own art piece. Definitely makes me want to dig around more!
