I was wondering what happened to him after the film. Did he stop fighting and try to do something else. But because of the way he was brought up, I doubt he could do anything else. Though a championship fight, he probably got paid a tidy sum

Or did he take it on the chin and keep fighting and go on to be a very successful boxer cause he was good.

I hope he gets a mention in Creed III to know what he did

Bonus question: The news calls him a Ukrainian fighter, then Russia claim him as one of their own once he's successful. I didn't think a boxer can change their nationality after their pro debut. So, in the eyes of the officials, would he be Russian or Ukrainian

Ivan Drago was exiled to Ukraine after losing to Rocky. I doubt he has any love for the Russian regime and they're fighting for their adopted homeland.

He was supposed to be the antagonist but he was unintentionally easier to root for. Creed was not that likable in that film.

Well he's not a real person for one. And also, it really doesn't matter. Just move on dont think and wait for the next product. Rinse and repeat until people stop paying.

In fairness, Apollo Creed is generally not the most likeable in all the Creed films. Philanderer who couldn't stop fighting and left his wife to raise his illegitimate kid. Which is why, for as amazing as the Creed films are, I hope it does end with a solid "I lived my dream. Now I am going to retire and spend time with my family" to show that the cycle has been broken.

But yeah, bog standard "the protagonist is whoever I relate to the most" stupidity.

Fact of the matter is, even though he didn't beat Creed for the belt he is still a top fighter and should have a successful career. Hell, he fought the champion twice so he should have a pretty good chunk of cash.

Why? Creed was the champ, rich, grew up in a mansion versus a guy who had nothing and grew up in a struggle and also sought his mother (and father's) love. Drago certainly wasn't a villain in that film despite the intentions.
