I want to watch some movies where the characters have to solve puzzles or find clues that solve a mystery. I don’t mind non-English movies, as long as I can put subtitles.

Movies that are in range with: Knives Out/Glass Onion, Maze Runner series, Saw series, Escape Room (1 and2) Murder Mystery, Murder on the Orient Express/Death on the Nile, Sherlock Holmes movies, Squid Games (if you want to count that)

Since you are not against watching a foreign movie (in this case from Spain or Argentina) I would recommend the Truth behind his eyes, The Invisible Guest (it's a trilogy), God's crooked lines... They are very good! It's more detective like solving clues/crimes...

If you want a TV show, you could watch Lost, the first season of Heroes or the first season of The 4400 (Heroes and 4400 went downhill after the first season).

Since you count Squid Game in your post I would highly recommend Alice in Borderland.

People get teleported to an alternate reality where they’re forced to play games in order to survive. It does have an over-arching story and a mystery to solve. I liked it a lot more than Squid Game

Since you like Alice in Borderland. You may also like Tomodachi Game, they’re quite similar. If you’re into anime, that is. But they made a live action, but I haven’t found it yet

Jeremy Brett’s Sherlock Holmes movies are on YouTube for free. He’s one of the best to ever play Holmes.

Murder by Decree - 1979, starring Christopher Plummer and James Mason as Holmes and Watson - very well written and nicely atmospheric.

Also, not a movie but speaking of Sherlock Holmes, have you seen the British Sherlock Holmes TV series which was broadcast from the mid 1980s to the mid 1990s? Jeremy Brett stars as Holmes. This has been adapted many times but I think the best version is the 1974 version “And then there were none” (it does have a different title that was of the time and not appropriate anymore) this is a classic Agatha Christie story so if you like Glass Onion and Murder / Death on the Orient Nile Express then it should be right up your street. It had a dark multi part tv adaptation recently too if you want a modern interpretation.
