Dunno about the rest, but Dolph Lundgren has a masters in chemical engineering so yeah, I assume he's pretty intelligent.

lol yes, Masters of the Universe was on Pluto or something, and my wife was surprised at the names on the screen, but didn't recognize Lundrgen. I said "that's the chemical engineer from Rocky 4", and she looked at me like i was crazy. i just laughed

Yeah this list is nonsense. James Wood is smarter than Einstein? Get out of town. You're falling for clickbait, or perhaps outrage bait - don't pay it any mind.

Having a high IQ doesn't automatically translate to being a genius. It just means you're capable of it if you put it to use.

FWIW though, Dolph Lundgren does hold a master's degree in chemical engineering, which he got from the University of Sydney. He had also received an MIT scholarship shortly after, and then left it all behind to pursue (at the suggestion of his then girlfriend Grace Jones) an acting career. He's definitely not as much of a meathead as his appearance would lead one to believe.

Rowan Atkinson, Kris Kristofferson, Conan O'Brien are very smart. Not sure about the rest.

I can believe it with Stallone. People think he's stupid because of the way he speaks and his paralysis in his face, but when you listen to him he's wicked smart. Not saying that I agree with him on all things, mind you.

I believe Kris Kristofferson. He had lead a million different lives.

He was a professor at West Point before he got into music and acting

Fascinating dude, actually wrote 'Me and Bobby Magee', allegedly landed a helicopter on Johnny Cash's lawn to get him to listen to his music.

He woke up Sunday mornin’, with no way to hold his head that didn’t hurt. And the beer he had for breakfast wasn’t bad, so he had one more for dessert.

I firmly believe that his version is the best version. Cash and Waylon did great covers, but his is the best.

If I was real good at acting and had a publicist, I could make up numbers too.

Not sure about his IQ but David Duchovny graduated from Princeton and masters from Yale.

Pretend_Pension_8585 t1_ja1n9ar wrote

Most of actors who graduated from prestigious schools(including Duchovny and O'Brien) have parents of some provenance. Clearly these two are smart people but their academic achievements are on the same level as Dubya's

4

throbbingliberal t1_ja1tlwg wrote

Duchovny attended The Collegiate School For Boys in Manhattan (where he was a classmate of John F. Kennedy Jr.[18]) from which he graduated as head boy[19] in 1978. He then attended Princeton University where he graduated Phi Beta Kappa and summa cum laude in 1982 with an A.B. in English literature.

Add On: He graduated Princeton before becoming an actor…

If James Woods has an 184 IQ, my name is Mickey Mouse.

These numbers are absolutely ludicrous. Lady Gaga? Wtf. An IQ of 160 is almost unheard of. 120-130 is exceptional. Notwithstanding whether or not you agree with the scales.

TheRedditornator OP t1_ja1meyx wrote

That was my thoughts too. Just wondering where they are pulling these numbers from, but multiple online sources seem to confirm at least some of these. Not sure if they are just repeating the same lie.

LegalSeries t1_ja1n30q wrote

I came on here to say that most celebrities lie about everything but after seeing your list, I'm not suprised by those names. All of those people are undeniably talented. What they are popular for is just the tip of the iceberg for them.

Probably some number inflation going on but I’m sure they’re smart and all that

Dolph Lundgren has a master's degree in chemical engineering, and was gonna further pursue that at MIT. Him having an IQ of 160 is very much believable.

Meh. Hollywood exaggerates everything. Let me guess, they all have huge schlongs too? (Especially Gaga) They are intelligent people no doubt. But don’t trust internet numbers.

Sir_Sparda t1_ja1rjrq wrote

While those numbers do seem high, you have to think about how these are elite people that are in positions that not the average joe can get into. Their public persona does not translate to their intelligence. Acting may seem easy, but to convey a feeling or emotion is rather difficult, let alone be casted several times in major motion pictures. You’re literally judging these books by their covers. Do you think you could talk to a crowd of people every night and host famous celebrities and have engaging and comedic interactions with the audience like Conan OBrien? Do you think you can effectively and succinctly talk about human trafficking like Ashton Kutcher? Can you make people laugh by creating an aloof character like Mr. Bean as does Rowan Atkinson? Celebrities are (mostly) famous for good reasons, thus to dismiss their intelligence based on some biased viewpoint doesn’t seem like the best way to go about this.

1

TheRedditornator OP t1_ja1tqev wrote

Not dismissing their intelligence, just dubious about their reported IQs. Whilst they are smart, I don't think anyone would think they are smarter than Einstein or Hawking, but that seems to be what the numbers suggest.
