specifically whom when you say .."in this instance I didn't even notice and assumed the character was always black because, again, bit character"..??? who Maria or another character Maria in the game was white.

Maria. Upon seeing her in the show I forgot that she was white in the game. She was a minor character whose race was unimportant.
