What's your favorite movie that you don't like rewatching?

I have just rewatched memento and whilst I still find the way the story is told and the movie as a whole.

(might be my favourite movie purely because I can so vividly remember how I felt when I first watched it) However I had significantly less joy watching this on the most recent occasion.

This leads me to my question, what's your favourite movie that you dislike rewatching?

Tbh Schindlers List is pretty rewatchable. There is a Hollywood score, some scenes of comedy, and overall a happy ending.

Now you can argue in itself if that is a flaw with the movie(Terry Gilliam thought so) but I guess it depends on taste.

I've rewatched that a couple of times and didn't hate doing that, although that said it was a solid ten + years apart and I definitely didn't really understand it when I saw it wildly underage the first time haha

I really liked Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. Haven’t gone back to rewatch it yet. I feel like I liked it so much in my initial watch I just can’t replicate the enjoyment I felt on a rewatch.

I have put off watching that movie for like 3 years. It looks like something I would really enjoy. But I always say it's not time yet.

American History X - easily my favourite film of all time but I can only watch it once every couple of years because of the heavy subject matter.

The Menu. I know it's a new film, but I've already seen it twice and that feels like enough for now. The film specifically makes a point on how doing something over and over again ruins the point, and so watching it again in recently would feel like I'm going against the movie.

So I just saw the whale but I wouldn't hate seeing it again 😅 my issue with memento is that the whole premise is sort of ruined once you've seen it once or twice and it just didn't seem to have the same impact as when I first saw it.

My advice: show someone who hasn’t seen Memento the movie. That way you can experience the twist through someone else

Anything that's very depressing or traumatic.

There are certain scenes in Requiem for a Dream, Come and See, American History X etc. that make me not want to rewatch

Or stuff like Uncut Gems. Am I in the mood to be stressed out? Nah.

Christine (2016) with Rebecca Hall. I had known of the real story of Christine Chubbuck’s tragic final days, but the movie still hit hard. Hall’s performance was hauntingly phenomenal, she honestly should have gotten more recognition for it. It was a good film, but by the end, I just felt so gutted.

I highly recommend it, even if I don’t plan on watching it again for a very long time
