Didn't actually think that it "sucked" initially, but the first 30-45 mins of 'Memories of Murder' are so silly (and that's on purpose). I was like "wth, this is all so ridiculous lmao". But what follows after that is sheer cinematic brilliance. It's one of my Top 5 favourite films of all time. This is the only movie that comes to mind wrt your post right now. 'Parasite' is dirt compared to 'Memories of Murder' (both are directed by Bong Joon-ho)

Yes! All the time.
I feel this way with a lot of great action movies. I have the most hype energy during a John Wick movie towards the beginning, by the end I’m a bit more worn out.
I feel this way about most Marvel, Star Wars, and DC movies too, it’s starts out hype as fuck and you’re like wow this is gonna be the best movie ever- then the cracks slowly start to show themselves as you eventually become bored and tired with the move. I’ve still never seen the last 20 minutes of Doctor Strange 2.

Danny Boyle’s Sunshine was the opposite of this for me.

Godzilla King of the Monsters. I expected it to be much worse and came in all but determined to hate it, since I wasn't fond of the 2014 movie. By the end, all the Godzilla universe fanservice had me won over. It ain't perfect, but it was clearly a labor of love and felt like a big budget version of the monster showdown films. It was the movie I wanted from the 2014 film.

I liked both Godzilla films. The Godzilla 2014 had a stronger story but lacked in the big monster fights. Which I didn't mind cause it made for some cool shots.
King of The Monsters on the other hand definitely had a weaker story. But goddamn were those monster fights amazing and visually stunning. Having KG emerge from the ice was a cool intro. Then burning Godzilla is a sight to behold.

To me it would be Downsizing, when it started the whole concept was pretty interesting, but as the film progresses it starts to go down and down...

Barbarian. The first half of the movie it was on track to be my favorite horror movie of the year. Then the second half happened and it became my least favorite horror of the year. Such an original premise that was ruined by the supernatural horror elements that were thrown in during the 2nd half. It didn’t shock or surprise me, it took me completely out of the movie, and they never got me back.

Supernatural?

I don’t know what else you would call a nearly superhuman mutant. That shits not natural, no matter her origins (which I honestly don’t even remember). Like I said she showed up, and I checked out of the movie.

The Hunt. It starts out as a very obvious and labored conservative versus liberal allegory, then becomes something very different by the end. The final confrontation was not what I was expecting, let alone that it features >!Academy Award winning actor Swank getting the snot beat out of her!<.

The beginning of The Human Centipede had real wooden acting. Then 30 minutes in, it started rolling quickly.
