no arty films allowed, looking for movies similar to splinter, howl, train to busan, dog soldiers, that weird lighthouse movie about those sea creatures, the mist.

To reiterate, I'm looking for films that are about a protagonist that finds themselves stuck somewhere, could be a plane, a train, a bus, a car or a physical location like a building, a house, a petrol station. the creature has to be outside of said location wanting to get in, so nothing like paranormal activity where the ghost was there first. Bonus points for movies where, like howl, the protagonists actually try and keep the creature(S) from getting in instead of sitting there and waiting for the creature to eat them.

also, don't mention any of the movies I listed above as I've already seen those, or movies that are blatantly not horror/creature related like the babadook where it was all a metaphor for their loss, so no it was all a dream or a metaphor movies please.

nothing in black and white/older than the 2000s

I strongly recommend you rethink “no black and white” for Night of the Living Dead.

This is the answer. But my man is actively resisting.

The poster who recommended the 1990 remake might be the best suggestion.

But NOTLD is THE "trapped inside with monsters outside hey look the problem is internal" movie. They really captured magic making it and I can go on about it at great length.

there's a not particularly good colourised version of it kicking about, saw a couple of clips of it on youtube. was not impressed.

The remake from the 90s is pretty good too.

Tiny bit older than the 2000s but the original Tremors was a fun watch

Are you looking for siege moves where folk are trapped and the monsters are outside?
Try Attack the Block, The Void or Legion

Or are you looking for movies where folk are trapped inside a space /with/ the monsters?
Try Crawl or Blood Red Sky.

A couple that are just outside your criteria due to the age of the film, the Blob remake from 1988, Demon Knight, Dusk til Dawn. And Green Room which has /all/ the hallmarks of a seige horror film, but it's tone and content marks it more as a thriller.

Honestly think the original purge movie will meet the vibe you’re looking for best.

Op should definitely watch event horizon. Then research the forbidden scene we only get to see for a second.

Good movie, don't know what you mean by that tho

Apparently a grotesque full scene was filmed for the cutaway you see, with the commander holding his eyes. They used adult performers, violent BDSM etc. Was never released, only using that one small section.

There’s movie called “Animal” that fits what you are talking about. People go to the woods and end up trapped in a cabin while being hunted by a monster.

Here is the IMDB page for it.

From memory there is a horror film I've watched that is entirely set in an elevator? 'The Devil' or something like that, 2009 or 2010

As for a great film, you've got Tarantinos Hateful 8
