If not, anyone know of a website I can use to find one? It can be a foreign language film (if not preferentially foreign language because there will be a higher likelihood that I haven't seen it before). I am looking for inspiration for a new comic book idea I have. Many thanks for any suggestions! All suggestions welcome.

Angels With Dirty Faces (1938) The film chronicles the relationship of the notorious gangster William "Rocky" Sullivan (James Cagney) with his childhood friend and now priest Father Jerry Connolly (Pat O'Brien).

A bit of a spoiler, but CITY OF VIOLENCE fits the bill.

They're not exactly children, but The Roaring Twenties with Cagney and Bogart is basically that sort of plot.

Indian Runner (1991), directed by Sean Penn. Haven’t seen it but that’s the plot

True, they did not physically fight each other but theme wise there's still an internal conflict between the two brothers, Rama wanting Andi to go home and Andi feeling like he has more of a life in the criminal world. This is summed up in their exchange they have before the third act of the movie and at the end when Andi still refuses to leave being a gang boss and uses the uniform metaphor from their earlier exchange.

You are 100% correct. It’s been a long time since I last saw it and I had it in my brain that they grew up together. Great movie, by the way! Rewatching it right now!
