Movies like these have enormous rewatch value for at least the second viewing. You have to reevaluate nearly every single scene from a new perspective. And even after that second viewing it still holds up. No, obviously it'll never hit the same way as the first time, but people rewatch all kinds of movies even though they know all the details. Just because this one ends with a mega twist doesn't mean it should be held to some higher standard than all those other movies we rewatch. If all it had going for it was the twist then yes. But it's so much more than that.

I don't understand that. And it's an opinion so I'm not saying you're wrong, just that I don't get it. Do you not enjoy rewatching movies in general? To me, a person who enjoys rewatching movies every few years, my enjoyment isn't affected by knowing the twist or the beats of the story. If this movie sucked all the way through and was only enjoyable for that one moment where the twist is revealed, then I'd understand. But this movie is an effective chilling "horror" or psychological thriller on its own.

I suppose it just depends on what you get out of a movie. If the twist in the end, is it.It would only be interesting for me If I was watching with someone who hadn't seen it.I have movies that I really like to watch multiple times.Pretty Woman,Red Planet,The Martian,Looking for Alibrandi, disaster movies in general,Bicentennial Man.Australian based movies in general Like Man from Snowy River,The Light Horsemen, also War Horse. The shape of Water and musicals like Oklahoma,My fair Lady,King and I .As with you it's usually the journey and not just the destination.

You could make the same argument for Fight Club, that once you know the twist ending it loses that magic but for me it makes the later viewings a whole new experience where you notice hints and things you did’t know to look for before. All in the way you look at it i guess.

I’ve seen it at least 4-5 times. It’s more than just the twist. You actually care about all the characters and hope they all find some peace. The Mother and Son scene in the car is so damn emotional.

Most of Shamalamadingdongs movies are one and dones. Maybe two times to see the subtle hints after you know the spoiler.

Comedies don't have great replay value. I've seen them before and obviously know all the punchlines. From the beginning it's obvious what the jokes are.

Very few movies with a "twist" do.

I just listened to a 'beyond the screenplay' podcast about The Sixth Sense and they seemed to pick up on a lot on repeat viewings. Even the subtlety of no scene showing people entering or leaving rooms, or that bruce willis's character always sits in a chair that's already pulled out and doesn't move it. I've only seen it once when I came out, but I've wanted to watch it again since hearing this podcast.

I hadn't even seen the movie but had read about the twist. I still enjoyed it though but it felt me enjoyable. I was just waiting for the twist ending.

Personally the only Shyamalan film I really like is “Signs.” I was so excited when he first came on the scene with Sixth Sense. I gave up after about five films.

Signs had a silly premise.Did those Aliens crash on a world that is 70% water and hide out in a cornfield that gets wet with dew?

I watched the film as a discussion about Faith. Everyone focused on the “aliens and water issue.” I found the acting excellent and thought the “signs” were clever. I enjoyed it most of all of his films. I did enjoy Sixth Sense, but watched it twice and do not care to see it again. I enjoy ONE of all of his films. So sue me. 🤦🏻‍♀️

Fair enough, everyone gets something different out of a movie.I just couldn't get Mel as the Priest, after Lethal Weapon and Mad Max.

OK. Lol. I was pleasantly surprised by him. And Joaquin Phoenix was super. Loved the young kids as well. There was a lot of humor in there. Forgot the line … “Everybody just calm down and have some fruit or something!” 😎 The kids wearing Tin Foil hats. Phoenix confronting Gibson about Faith. “Merrill, swing away.”
