The original is a much different type of film. Much more political and much less focused on zombie action. The virus in the original makes you crazy. It doesn't turn you into a zombie. The major focus of the film is the government's bungling of the attempt to contain the outbreak. I saw this during the first weeks of covid and it was quite apt.

I actually enjoyed the original but I would make a suggestion don't watch it when you're on the verge of falling asleep.
there's certainly a lot of differences between the two, the first is way more like dawn of the dead as far as the military coming in and setting up shop
a HUGE title saying codename trixie
which i'm glad the remake even bothered to mention
I'd say the original is more about the infected people losing their shit than acting like violent psychopathic zombies
being a big fan of the original dawn of the dead I enjoyed seeing some people I recignizes like the news reporter with the eye patch
the movie is totally Romero
watched the remake last night again , its been awhile and DAM radha mitchell just absolutely killed it.

What do you think is better? I have seen the new one but not the old one unfortunately. I've put it off because I'm expecting the same story and I already know it. Although Romero is one of my favorite horror directors. Mainly for the old zombie flicks. Yea I should throw this on...

I honestly didn’t even know there was an original until about 8 months ago. Haven’t watched it yet but I plan on it.

The original had me wondering when the movie would be over, ngl. The remake wasn’t much better, but still a slight improvement.

I’ve seen both! I recommend them both for different reasons. Most people seem to have only seen the newer one, which is great because of it’s budget allowing for better effects and setpieces. The original, on the other hand, has a very low budget (even for it’s time) which totally works in its favor because it feels much more real. They’re of different eras and but still carry the same underlying message. I wish I could be better about saying which one was definitively better. Probably the new one, but don’t take that as a reason to avoid the original, it’s a time capsule of early contemporary horror from 50 years ago

For the longest time I thought the Farmers wife in the remake was played by Amy Adams.

Remake is decent. Oliphant holds the show down pretty well and the score is very good. IRS a movie where the characters mostly make smart decisions and act like actual people instead of vessels to cause the next major mishap.

I found the original violently boring so I would suggest the remake.

I haven't seen the original either and this is a good reminder to do that. Having said that, I have a hard time imagining the original being better because the 2010 remake is probably one of the greatest "zombie/virus" movies ever made. Timothy Olyphant absolutely crushed it.
