I watched the film after a specific comment: "it's like a 5-star GTA chase stretched into a movie". So that's what I was looking to see a stupid over the top fun action movie.

And in part that's what it delivers, but only in the first part of the movie. As the film develops it starts taking itself more and more seriously. It starts exploring the character's emotions as if someone would care about these stupid characters' backgrounds.

Finally, I realized it was not supposed to be a stupid movie. It's just another shitty Michael bay movie that Reddit mistakes for a self-aware movie, cause Michael Bay tricks the audience into thinking that.

It is not a fun movie. It becomes boring pretty quickly once you realize it is not what it promises in the first part of the movie.

It's like Michael Bay started making this stupid fun movie and it was going great, but then he starts thinking that he is actually talented and wants to make the movie a bit more coherent and not just a bunch of fun scenes put together and it fails miserably.

The drone abuse I am sure he thinks its something cool that the audience would think "oh this is great, such a talent", but in reality, it's just annoying. After 15 minutes you say "okay we get it you like drones".

This movie should have been a 70-80 minutes movie, take out all of the unnecessary dialogue that tries to resemblance something as "character development" and that's it.

A movie that ends with this scene is not saying "this is a stupid movie", it's saying "you should be crying right now".

Self-aware action movies are allowed to have schlocky emotional bait in them, too. It’s kind of part of the formula.

I'm with you OP, I got so bored I checked to see if it was almost over, and saw that there was like an hour left until the end. Clicked it off, haven't tried to finish it.

If you want an ambulance movie, you want Mother, Jugs, and Speed.

The ending is the biggest BS ever. The wife gets the money and is just going to walk into a hospital, drop a bag of money on the table and they're just going to wheel her in for surgery? They'd take one look at her last name and make the connection to the highly publicized police chase which laid waste to the entire city and probably arrest her for attempting to use ill gotten gains.

The hatred this movie gets is bizarre. It’s just a fun movie and finally a good Michael bay movie.

I read the official discussion thread and most comments are positive.

We knew what we were getting into when we agreed to watch it.

Sunsets, helicopters, power chords, completely unearned emotional manipulation and hardcore bromance - only this time with added drones.

It's the same shit he's been spewing out for years.

But with drones.

I thought it was different due to the comments I've read before hand.

Yeah I get you. People maybe talked it up too much.

It's not a terrible film - it's just not as elevated from standard Bay output as some may have suggested.

A lot of comments are generated by the studios these days. Not saying there isn’t one person who liked it but I saw some pretty suspicious positive commentary for black Adam.

I hated this move way more than I thought I would. It absolutely reeks of a dude in his late 50s thinking he's cooking up the coolest and most revolutionary action spectacle set pieces because people used to love them in 1996 but he hasn't progressed an inch since then.

He's painfully out of touch with storytelling, camera work and action choreography. This was a miserable experience to endure.

I feel like people criticize Michael Bay after only watching the transformer movies. Forgetting about his actual good movies. Pain and Gain, the Rock, Bad Boys, 13 hours

Michael Bay doesn't trick anyone. R/movies beloves so many shit movies. It is just bizarre how many terrible movies have rabid fans on this sub.

Generally if this place raves about a movie you should be very skeptical.
