Actors are acting. To suggest that there is something so inherently different about gay actors that you can somehow “sniff” them out is is pretty offensive and silly actually. What about if a woman playing a mother is not actually a mother in real life? Would you think their ability to play one is amazing? Or an able bodied person such as Tom Cruise playing someone who no longer has the use of their legs, like in Born on the 4th of July? Or someone playing a person of a religion different to theirs?

I agree with you completely though to be fair there’s a not small number of people who don’t want that to go both ways, which is equally as silly and dumb.

"Michael Dorn, who famously played Lt. Commander Worf in the Star Trek series, turns out to not be a Klingon in real life, as he is a human born in Texas. This is offensive that real Klingons did not and do not have proper representation in the Star Trek series, as every Klingon has been played by a human actor"

Is this a joke? Do you think all gay people are naturally flamboyant and have to throw confetti everywhere they go?

Gays are good at playing straight because their survival (mostly in the past) depended on them being able to pass as heterosexuals.
