My FIL said he was kind of an ass too. Went to ND with him and said the movie got just about everything wrong possible about how he was as a person.

I separated Sean Astin Rudy from the real Rudy in my mind once I heard similar things about him, I can still enjoy it.

It's well known in the college football scene that he's a huge asshole. The movie is almost entirely fictional. He also scammed a bunch of people in some investment scheme or something.
