What are some of your favorite childhood films that you still watch to this day?

I find it funny that I was always really into live-action films more so as a kid than animated movies. My mom says that I was addicted to the Harry Potter franchise from the time I was 3 (in 2002) and I believe the 1st HP movie I saw in theaters was “The Chamber of Secrets.” Don’t get me wrong there are a few animated films that I watched as a kid. I was not expecting to see the Inn of Sixth Happiness on here. I didn’t realize that’s one a kid would enjoy. I thought it was okay. Auntie Mame is hilarious and The Guns of Navarone is fcking awesome!

Inn of the 6th Happiness was the first movie I saw in a theater. I really enjoyed it. For the 1950's it was a movie about women power.

I was 12 or 13 when I saw The Guns of Navarone. That and 12 O'clock High are really great WWII movies. Though I do watch "In Harm's Way" on Pearl Harbor day every year but never saw it as a kid.

The movie I bristle at when I see it listed as a children's movie is Watershed Down. Just because it is animated, it is so very violent. I love the book.

I like In Harms Way, but couldn’t agree more on 12 O’Clock High - I love that one!

But my absolute favorite, and maybe a top 10 movie for me is The Train.

I also really love All Quiet on the Western Front, The Dawn Patrol (1938), and The Eagle and the Hawk.

I'll have to check out those movies especially the Train. I just looked it up and it sounds great. I really like The Monuments Men. I know everyone pans it, but the art, I tear up every time I watch it.

I think I saw an educational version of The Train in history class. I know there was a Hollywood movies about getting art away from the Nazi's.

I like Band of Brothers though it is a series and Saving Private Ryan. I just wish the they didn't have to use the F word so often.

Definitely get the Kino Lorber release, there are two commentaries on it, and both are amazing - I don’t only one other time have I watched 2 commentaries for a film and enjoyed it so much. One was with director John Frankenheimer - and like I said, it’s really great. I have the previously released blu ray, and I’m assuming they’re on the 4K if that’s what you prefer.

My sister just gave me The Monuments Men a couple weeks ago, but I haven’t watched it yet. The reviews didn’t really motivate me much, but now I might bump it up on my watch list.

Mainly some Christmas films around December. But some that I still watch sometimes today are the Shrek films. Now I seen people hate the last 2 films but I can kind of see what they are trying to do on those films.

G.I. Joe: The Movie (1987) Movie came out when i was 1 and I saw it for the first time when I was around 5 or so. Got it by sending away for it on vhs through the Burger King Kids Club. I have it on bluray now and I still love it and watch it once a year or so.

It's funny, because I would re-watch many movies as a kid, so now when I consider films to watch I feel like I just saw those and therefore skip them. I watched The Wizard of Oz all the time as a kid, but don't think I've seen it but maybe once since college (from which I graduated over 20 years ago!). Some films we watched only on special occasions (like Mary Poppins because it aired on TV once a year), so it feels out of place to watch if not a special occasion.
