Hi, I'm looking for movies along the same line as Into the Wild. (I've thought about 127 Hours and Alive).

What I would like:

  • Appropriate for teens (below R would be great or very mild R at worst)
  • Something that would appeal to outdoor enthusiasts
  • The more authentic, the better
  • Indeigenous actors/content a bonus

Thank you in advance for your suggestions!

Lord of the Flies. Although it might be a little intense for younger teens.

That's a good suggestion, though they usually watch that in school anyway haha.

The Martian is a good, broad crowd pleaser. PG-13 I believe.

Prey is great, too.

The Edge (1997) - Rated R for language and some adventure gore/violence

Thanks, I'll check it out... though the gore/violence may be a deal breaker.
