How did it affect you?

Depends on the film, but hs performances always strike a deep chord in you. Feelings of mortality and a search for meaning.

Honestly, even his voice work. Vigo the Carpathian was just some hammy one-off villain for the Ghostbusters, but there's still so much in Von Sidow's vocal performance. He captures that epic vibe of some D&D baddie that has chased immortality and paid a heavy price, but is still willing to double down on his pursuit.

I think he was a bit underutilized in his later years. Appearances in things like Star Wars and Game of Thrones could have been so much more impactful. As you said, a mortality and search for meaning, that's precisely what those two respective characters brought. They were just left under-cooked by the screenplay.

Raiders of The Lost Ark

It's the movie that showed me at a young age that heroes don't need to have capes and super powers--sometimes, all you need is a whip and a pistol.

Alec Baldwin's cameo in Glengarry Glen Ross.

It affected me bybeing too relatable to some of the really bad places I've worked.

Wil Ferrell and Chris kattan performance in night at the Roxbury definitely impacted my sense of humour in real life.

Since I love Amy Adams it sort of tears me apart to have watched her play essentially the worst version of Lois Lane. Same goes with Viola Davis' Amanda Waller

Idgie Threadgood. Black sheep but loved hard, loved to tell stories, the not being prejudice and caring for others, feeding the homeless and living her own way really made me fall in love with that Character.

Movie- fried green tomatoes

Leonard Nimoy as Spock in Star Trek 2: The Wrath of Khan. Of all the actors to play Vulcan characters in the many iterations of Star Trek, Nimoy is my favorite. Others have done a fine job, but Nimoy embodied that character and "stuck the landing" in every scene he played. He is a master of the art of subtlety. Wrath of Khan is one of my all time favorite movies. Spock espouses the virtues of duty, bravery, logic, loyalty, and service to the greater good.

For me it will always Matthew McConaughey as Rust Cohle (True Detective) and Jack Nicholson as Jake Gittes (Chinatown)

Two phenomenal performances that always impacts me every single time I watch them

I avoided true detectives for as long as I could because I felt like the duet detective archetype had been over used. But eventually I watched it. And I freaking loved the whole thing. Both Matthew and Woody crushed it.

You had me in the beginning but then I read the rest of it and had a huge sigh of relief LOL

Yeah it may seem typical when you haven’t seen it before but when you finally watch it, it’s soooooooooooo awesome

Always happy to talk True Detective with another fan
