My thoughts on Jason and the Argonauts. What are your thoughts on this movie

this is my 2nd time watching it, I watched it a long time but it was hard for me to get into at the time. Now after this viewing I can easly say this is a pretty good and entertaining movie. I am a fan of Greek mythology so the setting was perfect, the characters were really well acted, as for the gods I like how they were really just viewers to the events of the movie and as for Jason I will admit I kinda had a hard time with him since he is given almost no flaws but I still think his actor did a good job. The music was pretty nice to listen to, felt like an epic adventure. It does feel slow at times but when it gets to the action it gets really entertaining. My favorite thing in this movie is the claymation done by Ray Harryhausen, his creations are done really well and amazing to look at, from how the movements give them character to how each design is unique to each creature. My favorite ones being the Talos and skeletons.

I was surprised by how many enjoyable and impressive scenes there are outside of the famous skeleton encounter.

If it's the old one, I may have seen it with my older siblings like 45 years ago. Does it have the harpies in it? I was terrified

Very entertaining, lots of fun and some first class stop motion animation by the amazing Ray Harryhausen.

I loved this movie as a kid. The monsters and animation was so imaginative.

Wasn’t there another movie in this same style but featuring Medusa/Persius or was part of the same film?

I saw this as a matinee in the theaters when I was young. Was it ever re-released or was this just specific to the local theater? Would have been late 80s.

Ray Harryhausen is always incredible, even if the movies themselves are not.

Yes! Thanks I just rewatched a few clips of it on YouTube. I think I watched it when I was 8 years old and got such terrible nightmares from that monster who got his hand cut off - was pretty horrifying!

One of my all time favorites!

I grew up on all the Harryhausen classics and Jason was probably my favorite. Talos is mighty impressive.

If you haven't yet, watch the Sindbad trilogy!

I love this film. Every time I catch it on TV, I watch it. Even if I turn on partway through, I don't care. The entire sequence on the island with Talos is amazing, and I still shout at Hercules and Hylas to drop the golden brooch pin and get the hell out of that room. The fools!

Ray Harryhausen's Jason and the Argonauts was an amazing feat of filmmaking and though it may have diverged from the actual myths it was based on, one must admit that in many places Harryhausen improved on them, making this one of the greatest fantasy films of all time.

I loved this movie as a kid. I saw it in the theater (as a re-release in ‘70s) and have vivid memories of that experience.
