Neptune Frost
Hmm, if I get enough good recommendations, I might push the number up. I was considering GDT’s Pinocchio because I love stop-motion, but I’ve heard EVERYONE talk about how good Puss in Boots 2 is. What makes it so good?
Never heard of it but I googled it. The premise alone sounds intriguing.
Puss in boots 2 is just very funny, the animation is beautiful, the story is also great and tackles some pretty adult themes in a very unique way.

Okay, watching it. So you highly recommend GDT’s Pinocchio too?
Don't Worry Darling or Bullet Train
Yeah. I really liked both. I probably liked puss in boots better just because it was a little more entertaining but Pinocchio is beautifully done. I’d give them both great ratings.
Isn’t Tragedy of Macbeth 2021?
I’m sure some of these others are probably 2021 also. I just count movies by when I get to see them, and I didn’t get to see Tragedy of Macbeth until it was released on AppleTV+ in January. I tried to do it the other way and count movies by their technical release date but it got to be too much of a hassle waiting for some. movies to come out a year+ later that released the previous year, like at Sundance or whatever.
Hmm, okay. Thanks for the recommendations.
Personally not interested in either one but thank you for the recommendations.
The Good Nurse

Can’t stand Eddie Redmayne but thanks.

The Quiet Girl, one of the best of last year and nominated for an Oscar.
I have A Love Song on the list, really enjoyed it, but you picked some good ones. Hmm, I might have to bump it up to 55. I know everyone loves Decision to Leave.
Yeah, I had The Fallout on my list originally, and I do love sad and traumatic. Are Pearl and X really that good?
Oh yeah, isn’t that the Irish one?
Brian and charles
This was released in 2021 but was released on streaming and VOD in 2022 so I’d argue it counts.
De uskyldige (The Innocents) is a Norwegian supernatural thriller written and directed by Eskil Vogt. It’s about a group of young children who live on a Norwegian housing estate and hang out together in the woods when all the other kids leave for vacation in the summer. The children start to develop strange powers and the film takes a very dark turn.
It’s filmed in a very naturalistic way and the child actors are amazing making it even creepier.
One of the main characters is severely autistic and the child actress playing her does an incredible job of portraying it.
It’s in Norwegian obviously so expect subtitles but if you can handle that, this is one of the best movies I have seen in years.

Yeah, I was this close to watching that at Sundance last year. It looks good.
Yeah, I think you’re right. I think it is this year.
Pearl and X
Yes An Cailín Ciúin to give it its proper name as Gaeilge. It's a great movie too, and I'm not just saying that as an Irish person.
Okay, I’ll give it a shot.
If you haven’t seen some of these 50 then watch the highest ranked one:
It’s my favorite movie of the year actually. Top Gun: Maverick, Tár, Banshees, all great ones. Really looking forward to Aftersun.
Aftersun was my #1 movie of the year. I am glad the streaming price dropped radically late last week since I need to watch it again.
Dang, wish I’d known that. Rented it just before. What did you like about Aftersun so much? Everyone seems to love it. I guess it could dethrone Everything Everywhere as #1 for me.
The whole idea of a director making a partially autobiographical movie about a vacation with her father and using it to try to explore the mental problems which lead to his suicide five years later was fascinating to me. The movie accomplished its goal in a masterful way.
Babylon comes out on VOD tmrw I’d give it a watch
If that doesn’t tickle your fancy, Decision to leave is excellent.
Weird: The Al Yankovic Story
The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent
Roald Dahl's Matilda: The Musical
Vortex
Hmm. Sounds really good and sad too.
Yeah, I saw that it comes out tomorrow. Have you seen it? I’m a Damien Chazelle fan, seen his other three movies, and like each one only slightly less than the one that came before, so I’m assuming the trend will continue?
I’ve got Decision to Leave on my list to watch. I’ve heard it’s really good.
Ive seen Babylon twice and I absolutely loved it. Initially I had given it a 5 stars on Letterboxd but on the second viewing I did notice some minor pacing issues that caused the movie to drag just a touch. Overall though I thought it was excellent
Hmm, okay. What’s your favorite Chazelle movie?
La la land, when I think of my favourite movies ever it’s one of the first to come to my mind I love it
Oh, sweet! Mine’s Whiplash. What are some of your other favorites?
The place beyond the pines, Goodfellas, Spider-Man 2, Boogie Nights
Hell yeah! The Place Beyond the Pines is so underrated. Love the music and cinematography in it. Boogie Nights is one of the best put together ensemble casts ever. Love that movie! Spider-Man 2, inarguably the best Spider-Man movie. And Goodfellas is suspenseful. Love Joe Pesci. So iconic.
Its Morbius Time! (2022), It won Various Oscars and Emmy's
😂 Favorite reply I’ve ever gotten in my three years on Reddit.
