That was my first thought.
Watched it once, will never do it again. Recommend it to everyone I know.
Logan was great, I don't think I'll ever watch it again.
Ditto for The Mist.
I watched Logan twice thus far but the last time I did, when the Johnny Cash song started, I just lost it. I didn’t expect emotions to hit me a bit hard the second time around. I’m glad Jackman and Mangold were able to make it they way they did
Correct me if I'm wrong but Hurt by Johnny Cash is only in the trailer if I'm not mistaken.
I always associate that song with the film because it is one of the best trailers of all time IMO. I was stunned to re-watch and not hear it.
at the very end of the movie, right when the credits roll, “The Man Comes Around” starts to play
Thanks! I instantly thought "Hurt". Recommend re-watching that trailer if you haven't in a while. Chills!
People being moved by the movie with those horrible phone camera scenes and the little lightning boy? I never
Moonlight. Can't watch it too often. Kinda leaves me devastated.
90% of dramas for me haha. They keep my attention so I don’t even feel like I missed things.. just come out all melancholy
Pan's Labyrinth (2006)
The Road (2009)
The Tale of Tales (2015)
I've rewatched The Road a number of times because the set design and cinematography is really excellent.
It's more the rule than the exception for me. On one hand I don't think a movie that can't stand up to a rewatch should be a favorite so I'm not against it at all, but I do believe you can overdo most things even if it's the best ever.
Requiem for a dream. Watched it once when it first came out in the cinema, and recently at home. I don't think I will revisit it for the next couple of decades
Magnolia. Loved it and watched it when it came out. I recommend it to others and have never watched it again. Another mentioned Logan and that’s one I’ve only seen once and really thought it was great.
Doctor Zhivago. I saw it in the theater when it was released. It was the most enthralling experience I had ever had watching a movie. I have never watched it again because I'm sure it will not live up to my memory of the original experience.
This is why recording live events cannot replace the actual experience. When you are 86 and looking at old videos you made they will be meaningless if you have no actual memory of watching the event. You might as well be watching YouTube.
Gone girl, i loved it but it is depressing to watch
Rear Window. The last 20-40 minutes were the most suspenseful thing I'd ever seen and I know it won't be the same on a rewatch so I have avoided it for years.
Life.
Really enjoyed the movie and I loved the ending. I've only watched it once on purpose. Loved it!
The Shining. Love it, but it scares me so much that I've only seen it like 3 times in my life.
Nearly every movie I have watched 😂. I don't usually rewatch movies. Though at the moment I am doing a rewatch of movies I watched in my youth just to see if the hold up to my nostalgic memory of them. Just watched Spy Kids and I was happy to see that film held up for me.
Yeah same. I don't think I've seen anything more than twice, at least deliberately. The Matrix, Pulp Fiction, Kill Bill, Fury Road. They're all awesome but I want to see something new.
Se7en, Interstellar. A literal work of art.
Irreversible
Likewise, saw it in the theatre when it came out. It has never left me and I can remember exactly how I felt about it. Watching it again will bring nothing new to the table so it’s best left where it is. It’s not a great memory but it IS memorable and a great (but difficult) film.
It something that should be seen because it’s a brilliant and uniquely made film
Most of the movies I've really loved, I've seen at least 5 times.
I'll go with: L'Our AKA The Bear (1988). Haven't been able to find a good copy anywhere.
Sick: The Life and Death of Bob Flanagan, Supermasochist. Hard to watch not just because of the freak show element (there’s a scene where he bleeds all over the camera from his penis that’s really hard to stomach) but also because it spends so much time with him as he declines and dies. Great film about living with chronic illness though.
Room. Not to be confused with The Room. Watched it once. It's a great movie. Don't know if I ever want to watch it again. Same for Grave of the Fireflies.
John woo's Bullet in the Head
It was not the first time I'd seen a John woo movie. I'm old enough to remember a time when repertory theaters were very popular and Portland had many. One in particular had introduce me not only to Hong Kong Cinema but two Japanese animation as well.
Some friends of ours called us and invited us to go see Bullet in the Head. We went to an early showing and I distinctly remember standing on the sunny sidewalk in front of the theater after the movie when our friend said "some John woo movies are like that, it's like he comes to your house and personally beat you with a baseball bat."
I bought the VHS tape the day it was released. Never watched the tape.
3:10 to Yuma
Never a huge western movie fan but I thoroughly enjoyed it
Apocalypse Now and The Exorcist
Both movies are incredible crafts and lots of cinematic fun, but don’t require tons of repeat viewings to continue their discussions.
Wyatt Earp, it's a good, but long Western, enjoyed it, wont see it again i guess
Maybe Taxi Driver. I could definitely count on 1 hand how many times I've seen it.
Full Metal Jacket. And most of Kubrick's filmography if im honest, I fear most of them might lose their impact upon rewatches, so I avoid doing that.
Zodiac. It's been taking off streaming so I haven't seen it since I first watched it on Netflix a couple years ago.
I seldom watch any film more than once.
Donnie Darko 🥺♥️
The Father.
Amazing, amazing script and performances. One of the best I've ever seen.
Never watching it again. Terrifying film.
There Will Be Blood
It was such a magnificient experience that I want to be in the perfect mood next time I watch it.
Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me
Talented Mr Ripley
CASUALTIES OF WAR - great film. But a hell of a punch in the stomach.
BLKLIST SCRIPT: CROSSFIRE. WAR. https://blcklst.com/members/scripts/view/132621
Ladybird. Hit me so hard I don't think I'll ever watch it again, but I'll treasure it forever regardless
One flew over the cuckoos nest
For me it’s the hardest ending of a film to watch. To that spirit lost, it’s unbearable
Blade Runner 2049. I love it but it's a little too slow for my taste. Some scenes could've been tighten up a bit.
It's between Volver (Pedro Almodovar) and 3-iron (Kim-Ki Duk).
Only seen them once. I will see Volver somewhere in the future, but I'm unlikely to see 3-iron again unless it was screened somewhere (which is a possibility as I'm lucky to be in a city with numerous old movies showings). I feel like it requires to be exactly in the right mood for it and I don't want to spoil my memory of it.
Manchester by the Sea. Top 10 all time, only seen it once.
Irreversible. Still debating whether to show it to my film group
I’ve only seen most films once or twice.
what a waste

i watched the fly a few years back an fucking loved it but i still have not rewatched it yet. i normally jump at the chance to rewatch something i love but for some reason i have yet to see it again
I only watched The Usual Suspects once and loved it so much. Tried to watch it a second time a few months later, but found it impossible to get through because I knew the twist, and the twist is SUCH an integral part of the whole film.
Often with any media that involves such a twist, I enjoy watching it again because I can see it from a whole new perspective. But not that one. For whatever reason, I could only watch it once.
I adore Billy Elliott but haven't seen it on years. I lived with my grandmother after college and we watched it together and she loved it too :) happy memories.
A film like this for me would be Carol. I've seen it a couple times but for me it's too emotionally intense to watch too often. But I think about it a lot.
Born on the Fourth of July
Schindler's List (watched once)
Mysterious Skin (twice)
Let the Right One In (once)
Brokeback Mountain (once)
I plan to rewatch them one day.
The Fox & The Hound
Saw it when I was 6. I've made a conscious effort to avoid it for 40 odd years as I don't want my experiences and cynicisms as a teenager- young adult-middle aged man to ruin what's a very happy and comforting memory for me.

Two movies that I thought were absolutely amazing, but may never watch again: Grave of Fireflies and Black Swan.
The emotional gut punch of both of them can't be overstated. If you haven't seen either, you need to, but one watch is enough. They are horrible and beautiful and hurt you so goddamn much, in two very different ways.
Honorable mentions are Requiem for a Dream and American History X, for similar reasons.

Dear Zachary
Requiem For a Dream
Both films are excellent, but I can’t handle them more than once, they were devastating.

For me its "Grave of the Fireflies" from Studio Ghibli. Such a great but also sad movie.
