What I’m getting from these details is that the film is exactly as bad as the ads make it look, for the exact reasons we all surmised.

Farrakhan is a piece of shit who is currently pushing Scientology on all the Nation of Islam groups out there. Farrakhan’s views on just about everything are dumb bullshit mixed with irrational hatred

The movie had funny parts but was generally a disappointment considering I expected hill and Murphy to make a truly funny movie, but everything in this article rings true.

I thought the movie made a big stink of Farrakhan's views and the fact that they are upsetting to a lot of people. But the movie was about a Nation of Islam follower, which is not a small amount of people, so they also spoke of their reverence to him.

The point of this movie is to talk about the cross-racial/religious/cultural divides. If that's what we're calling normalization, then that is what it will take to address the issues of Farrakhan and his beliefs.

I mean Eddie Murphy’s character was also a lazily written caricature of a pro-black black man who they also made into the primary antagonist. Seems like the insensitivity around portrayed identities goes both ways.
