My understanding is that the New Hampshire Capital Corridor project has been debated for a long time and finally received federal funding for an engineering and research study about 3 years ago to the tune of $5.4 million. They were looking to start laying the foundation for the project this year, however, in December the executive council voted to stop the study and "redirect" the $1.5 million left for other unspecified mass transit projects. In addition, they have introduced HB110 that would effectively ban any and all future rail projects, which will be voted on next month.

Am I missing something? To me it looks like they are attempting kill rail in New Hampshire and prevent it from ever happening. What can we do? I would love commuter rail between our major cities and an easy option to travel to Boston. I also truly believe that it would be a boon to our economy. I'm thinking about writing to my representitives, but I feel like that's not enough. Are there any advocacy groups for rail?
