In a just society those in authority would be punished more harshly than others. Unfortunately, that's not what usually happens.

The military is like that but that is one of the aspects of the military the local police are not trying to steal. Mine resistant vehicles to protect you from protesters after you murder another unarmed child? Send it over. Accountability? No thanks, back the blue.
